As supervisors, how do we actually do supervision?

It soon becomes obvious that there is no single right way to be a supervisor. It does depend on you as an individual, your personal experience, your professional experience, your personality and style. It definitely depends on the relationship that you have with your student and different students will benefit from different styles of supervision.

Supervisory styles differ, what comes naturally to you might be different for each one of us. As a supervisor, you need to be familiar with how to change and how that change might benefit the student and benefit the PhD overall.
